NUTRITION IN ANIMALS

Nutrition in animals is heterotrophic, that is, they need other living beings to be able to obtain energy to survive. For example, herbivorous animals take the energy they need from grass when they consume it, carnivores take energy from the meat of their prey etc.

The nutrition process is carried out through the digestive system that allows them to transform food into nutrients and has three processes: Ingestion, digestion and absorption. Let's see what each one consists of.

INGESTION: consists of the entry of food into the body, in animals there are various structures that allow this process to be carried out according to their need, there are sucking, animal feed science and technology chewing and / or shredding animals. In the ingestion the food is chewed and passes to other organs.

DIGESTION: in this stage the food is transformed into simpler particles called nutrients.

ABSORPTION: here the nutrients pass into the circulatory system to be carried to all the cells of the body.
